SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered the promotion and regularisation of 53 faculty members of Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) in Anantnag, Jammu, Doda, Rajouri and Baramulla to higher posts.

The promotions and regularisations have been sanctioned by the Health and Medical Education Department following recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) and the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC).

Five separate government orders were issued on August 31, 2026, covering faculty members from different medical disciplines.

J&K GMC Faculty Promotion 2026

Among the medical colleges covered by the latest orders, Government Medical College Anantnag recorded the highest number of promotions and regularisations, with 22 faculty members elevated to the posts of Professor and Associate Professor.

The beneficiaries include faculty members from departments such as Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Community Medicine, Psychiatry, Physiology, Anaesthesiology, Pharmacology, ENT, Orthopaedics, Radio Diagnosis, Pathology, Paediatrics, Dentistry, General Medicine, Radiation Oncology, Microbiology, Anatomy and Biochemistry.

The promoted faculty members named in the order include Dr Syed Nawaz Ahmad, Dr Fouzia Nazir, Dr Mansoor Ahmad Dar, Dr Mehak Mufti, Dr Shaugfta Aara, Dr Anjum Shamim, Dr Sami Manzoor, Dr Aamir Yousuf, Dr Younis Kamal, Dr Nawaz Ahmad Bhat, Dr Mir Saiqa Shaifi, Dr Suhaeb Bhat, Dr Showkat Hussain Tali, Dr Malik Shakir Hussain, Dr Sanjeet Singh Risam, Dr Mashkoor Ahmad Beg, Dr Shanid Bashir Wani and Dr Abiroo Jan, along with faculty members in Anatomy and Biochemistry.

At Government Medical College Jammu, a total of 13 faculty members were promoted or regularised to higher posts.

10 GMC Doda Faculty Members Promoted

At Government Medical College Doda, 10 faculty members were promoted or regularised.

They include Dr Najmus Saqib in Paediatrics, Dr Madhu Kapoor Chib in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr Garima Charak in Physiology, Dr Khalid Muzzafer and Dr Arpan Bijyal in Orthopaedics, Dr Babar Rashid Zargar in General Surgery, Dr Sumat-Ul-Khurshid in Pathology, Dr Rahil Muzaffar in ENT, Dr Rajat Rakesh Khajuria in Dentistry and Dr Mir Kaisar Ahmad in Biochemistry.

7 Faculty Members Promoted at GMC Rajouri

The government has also approved promotions and regularisations for seven faculty members at Government Medical College Rajouri.

The beneficiaries include:

At Government Medical College Baramulla, Dr Mehmood Rashid, Associate Professor of General Surgery, has been promoted and regularised as Professor.

This completes the five medical colleges covered in the latest set of government orders.
