J&K Government Issues Select List for Veterinary Assistant Surgeons in Sheep Husbandry Department
Srinagar, July 10: The Agriculture Production Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, has officially released the select list of candidates recommended for appointment as Veterinary Assistant Surgeons (VAS) in the Sheep Husbandry Department. The recommendations have been made by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) following the recruitment process.
According to the official notice, the JKPSC, through Letter No. PSC/DR-Leet-SHD/2024(7585119) dated June 19, 2026, has recommended five candidates for appointment against the advertised posts in the Sheep Husbandry Department.
Recommended Candidates
The candidates recommended by JKPSC are:
- Kamran Khursheed (ST-2), Ward No. 1, Galthutta, Mendhar, Poonch
- Aaqib Riyaz Parray (OM), Russo Narbal, Budgam
- Zulfasha Anjum (OM), Midoora, Awantipora, Pulwama
- Haqnawaz Ahmed (ST-1), Nagrota, Rajouri
- Shoaib Mohammad (SLC), Tral-i-Bala, Tral, Pulwama
Character and Antecedents Verification
Before the issuance of formal appointment orders, the selected candidates are required to undergo Character and Antecedents Verification by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), J&K.
For this purpose, candidates have been directed to submit the following information:
- Name of the candidate
- Parentage
- Permanent address as per Domicile Certificate
- Mobile number
- Email address
Submission Process
Candidates must submit the required details within 21 days from the date of issuance of the notice.
The information can be submitted:
- In person to the Nodal Officer at Room No. G-32-G, Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, or
- Through email to the official departmental email address mentioned in the notification.
Failure to submit the required information within the stipulated period may delay the verification process and subsequent appointment formalities.
Official Notification
The notice has been issued by Azhar Amin Zargar, JKAS, Deputy Secretary to the Government, Agriculture Production Department, and is dated July 2, 2026. Copies of the notification have also been forwarded to the Director of Information & Public Relations, Director Sheep Husbandry, Additional Secretary to the Government, and other concerned authorities for necessary action and publication.
The release of the select list marks another step towards strengthening the Sheep Husbandry Department by filling Veterinary Assistant Surgeon posts, which play a vital role in improving livestock healthcare, disease control, breeding services, and the overall development of the sheep farming sector across Jammu and Kashmir.
