SRINAGAR: Two people were killed and three others injured after a Tempo Traveller was struck by a shooting stone at Gangroo on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) in the Ramsoo area of Ramban district on Tuesday afternoon.

According to official information, the accident took place at around 1:20 pm when a Tempo Traveller bearing registration number JK06B-9842, driven by Asif Majeed, son of Abdul Majeed and a resident of Kashtigarh, Doda, was hit by a shooting stone while travelling along the highway.
The incident claimed the lives of Nazir Ahmed, son of Din Mohammad, a resident of Dandal, Kashtigarh, Doda, and Shakeela Bano, wife of Nazir Ahmed, also a resident of Dandal, Kashtigarh, Doda.
Three other passengers sustained injuries. They have been identified as Dilshad Ahmed, son of Ghulam Rasool, a resident of Zara, Kashtigarh, Doda; Tasleema Bano, daughter of Shamas Din, a resident of Kashtigarh, Doda; Gulzar Ahmed, son of Din Mohammad, a resident of Kashtigarh, Doda.
All the injured were shifted to District Hospital Ramban for treatment.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident. Further investigation is underway
