DC Jammu orders ban on transfer of Cow, oxen in Jammu in the wake of Lumpy Disease
Measures for prevention of spreading Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD).
Whereas, as reported by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Jammu vide letter No.CAHOJ/Tech/2022/2778-79 dated 22-08-2022 that a disease called Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) is rapidly spreading; in Jammu district, but not limited to Jammu district.
2. Whereas, as per expert opinion the Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) is a notifiable disease which is highly contagious in nature and spreads among cattle through contact with infected animals;
3. Whereas, it is necessary to take preventive measures to control and to prevent its further spread;
4. Now, therefore, I Avny Lavasa, IAS, District Magistrate Jammu in exercise of the powers vested in me under Section 144 Cr. P.C. hereby direct that no bovine animal such as cow, oxen, bulls, calves etc by foot or through transport means be transported within Jammu district and from district Jammu to other districts;
5. This order shall come into force with an immediate effect and shall remain in force for a period of two months from date of its issue or further notice whichever earlier.
