The UN stated: “A record 175 Member States supported the draft resolution establishing an International Day of Yoga, which was submitted by India. In his speech to kick off the 69th session of the General Assembly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi originally proposed the idea, stating, “Yoga is an invaluable gift of our ancient tradition.” The oneness of mind and body, of thought and action, is embodied in yoga. a comprehensive strategy, which is beneficial to our health and wellbeing. Yoga is a means of achieving a sense of unity with oneself, the world, and nature; it is not merely a physical kind of exercise.
The resolution declares that “it is important for people and groups to make healthy choices and follow lifestyles which encourage good health.” “The World Health Organization also encourages its Member States to assist in reducing physical inactivity of their citizens in this regard,” the statement read.
