Jammu and Kashmir Transporters Declare ‘Chakka-Jam on April 17th

The Jammu Kashmir Transport Welfare Association has announced that it will hold a one-day strike, known as ‘Chakka-Jam’, on April 17th. The association claims that all affiliated organizations have supported the strike. According to the General Secretary of the Transport Welfare Association, Sheikh Muhammad Yousuf, the strike has been announced to get the government to address the genuine demands of the transport sector, which has been neglected despite the sector’s significant contribution to the economy.

Yousuf stated that despite working hard, transporters are facing tough times due to heavy increases in taxes, fees, and penalties levied by the central and UT governments. He also stated that they have submitted their charter of demands to the government and highlighted all issues relating to the transport sector.
