J&k Govt orders increase of Wages of Daily Wage
The Jammu and Kashmir Administration has issued an order to increase the wages of Daily Rated Workers and Casual Labourers who work in various Government Departments, Municipalities and Local Bodies. Starting from 17th October 2022, those who currently receive Rs. 300 per day will be paid Rs. 311 per day.
In addition to the wage increase, the following measures have been ordered:
- The implementation of a biometric attendance system for all government employees, including daily wage workers and casual labourers.
- The concerned DDO/Controlling officer will have to certify that daily rated workers/casual workers have worked for the required time period every day and that their performance has been satisfactory, with every bill.
- Field staff, for whom biometric attendance may not be practical, will have to be certified by the concerned DDO, but will still have to mark attendance at designated intervals.
- The Aadhaar-based database will be reviewed to prevent duplication.
- The relevant departments must provide complete information regarding unauthorised appointments, allowing identification of officers/officials who are responsible for such appointments, and subsequent action may be taken against them as per rules.
- The number of hours of engagement may be restricted to the budget.
