J&K Meteorological clarifying yellow snowfall dust carried by winds from Pakistan and Afghanistan
The Jammu and Kashmir Meteorological Department has issued a statement clarifying that the yellow snowfall that occurred in North Kashmir on Friday was a result of dust carried by winds from Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The statement was based on satellite analysis from the European Operational Satellite Agency (EUMETSAT) using the 2nd Generation Weather Satellite (Meteosat-9).
The winds started around 7 PM IST travelled northeast wards and reached north Kashmir around 02:00hrs AM(IST)’
The analysis showed that the dusty snowfall was carried from central parts of Pakistan and southern Afghanistan, starting at 7 PM IST and reaching North Kashmir around 2 AM IST.
