According to an official from the department, in the last 24 hours until 8:30 am today, Srinagar recorded 39.7mm of rain, while other areas such as Qazigund, Pahalgam, Kupwara, Kokernag, Gulmarg, Banihal, Batote, Katra, Bhaderwah, Leh, and Kargil also received significant rainfall.

The temperature in most areas was lower than usual, with Srinagar being 2.3°C below normal for this time of year.

The weather is expected to remain “erratic” until May 4, with intermittent rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall in higher reaches likely to occur from April 27-28. However, there is no forecast of major snowfall. From April 29 to May 3, the weather is expected to be partly to generally cloudy, with intermittent rain and thunderstorms possible in scattered places. The department has advised farmers to postpone spraying orchards until May 4. .
