How to Apply for JKSSB 518 Posts

Candidates are required to apply online only through the official JKSSB website. The notice makes it clear that no other mode of application will be accepted.

Candidates must first register on the JKSSB portal through the “Log-in (Apply on Various Posts)” section.

Those registering for the first time need a valid email ID and mobile number. The registration process involves OTP verification, after which candidates can create their login credentials.

After creating the account, candidates have to complete the OTR (One-Time Registration) process. Once OTR is completed, applicants can go to the “Active Advertisement” section and select the “Apply” option for the relevant advertised posts.

Important Documents Required

Candidates should keep the required documents ready before starting the application.

The JKSSB notice requires candidates to upload:

  • Valid category certificate, wherever applicable
  • Required qualification certificate(s)
  • Experience certificate(s), if required for the particular post
  • Candidate’s signature
  • Live photograph through the device camera

The notice specifies that the signature must be uploaded in the prescribed size and format, while category and qualification certificates have their own file-size requirements.

JKSSB Makes Live Face Verification Mandatory

One of the important requirements in the latest notice is live face capture through the device camera.

Candidates cannot complete the application without successful face verification. The Board has specifically stated that uploaded photographs or screenshots are not permitted for this requirement.

Candidates should therefore use a working mobile or laptop camera and allow camera access when prompted by the browser.

The Board recommends using the latest versions of Chrome, Edge or Firefox and completing the face capture in a properly lit area.

Face Verification: What Candidates Should Keep in Mind

During live face capture, candidates should:

  • Keep the face clearly visible and sharp
  • Look directly at the camera
  • Keep the face centred
  • Keep the head straight
  • Ensure only one face is visible
  • Stay close enough to the camera

Candidates should avoid dark rooms, strong backlighting and harsh shadows.

The notice also instructs applicants not to use masks, caps, hats, helmets, sunglasses, face coverings or hands covering the face during verification.

Application Form Cannot Be Edited After Submission

JKSSB has also warned candidates to carefully check all information entered in the online form before final submission.

Once the application form has been submitted, candidates cannot edit the application form.

The information submitted by candidates will be treated as final for determining eligibility and claims. The notice further states that benefits relating to category, weightage and similar claims must be entered in the application form and supported by a valid certificate within the prescribed cut-off date.

JKSSB Application Fee Payment

Candidates must successfully pay the prescribed application fee for their application to be considered complete.

The notice states that online payment can be made through:

  • Net Banking
  • Debit Card
  • UPI
  • Credit Card

After successfully completing the application form, candidates will see the “Pay Now” option. Applicants are advised to check whether the fee status is shown as “Submitted” on their dashboard.

No Hard Copy Required for Most Candidates

Candidates generally do not have to submit a hard copy or printout of the completed application form at the application stage.

However, the notice contains a separate requirement for in-service candidates, who are required to submit the printout of the online application along with the duly filled, signed and stamped certificate through the proper channel.

Post Preferences Must Be Given Carefully

JKSSB has also advised candidates to provide their preferences for certain posts against the corresponding item numbers.

The notice lists preferences for posts including:

  • Horticulture Technician Grade-IV
  • Junior Pharmacist
  • Junior Theatre Technician
  • Junior Ophthalmic Technician
  • Junior Lab Technician
  • Junior Staff Nurse
  • FMPHW/MMPHW
  • Junior Laboratory Assistant

Candidates applying for these posts should therefore carefully check the corresponding item numbers before submitting their preferences.

Candidates Advised Not to Wait Until Last Date

JKSSB has issued a specific warning regarding last-minute applications.

Candidates are advised to submit their application forms and complete the payment well before October 9, 2026 rather than waiting for the final day.

The reason given by the Board is the possibility of heavy load on the website during the closing days, which could cause disconnection, inability to log in or failure to complete the application successfully.
