J&K Forest Department Announces Major Administrative Reshuffle; 17 Officers Transferred
Srinagar, Sept 16, 2026 — In a significant administrative move aimed at streamlining operations, the Department of Forest, Ecology & Environment, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, issued a formal transfer and posting order on Tuesday affecting 17 officers across various divisions.
The order, issued by Sheetal Nanda, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, comes into effect immediately.
Key Transfers and Additional Charges
The reshuffle sees a mix of fresh postings and the assignment of additional charges to senior officers to fill critical gaps.
Senior Administrative Movements:
· Mudasir Mehmood Malik, DCF, currently serving as the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Awantipora Forest Division, has been assigned the additional charge of General Manager, Extraction Circle South, Harang, Anantnag (J&K FDC), alongside his current duties.
· Neha Mehta, ACF, who was serving as I/c Principal of the Soil Conservation Training School in Miran Sahib, will now look after the charge of DFO Research, Jammu (SFRI). This relieves Mr. Bishan Dass, DCF, of the additional charge.
· Harpreet Kour, ACF, who was awaiting adjustment, has been assigned the charge of Special Secretary (Technical) in the Civil Secretariat, relieving Vivek Modi, ACF.
· Vivek Modi, ACF, takes over the charge of Principal, Soil Conservation Training School, Miran Sahib, from Neha Mehta.
· Shabir Ahmad Sheikh, ACF, currently DFO Statistics in Srinagar, will hold the additional charge of DFO Planning, Publicity Srinagar.
Field Postings and Wildlife Management:
· S. Amrik Singh, ACF, has been posted as Wildlife Warden Kathua, replacing Vijay Kumar, ACF. Kumar will report to the PCCF/HoFF for further posting.
· Abid Ali Lone, ACF, moves from DFO Planning & Publicity to Wildlife Warden Wetland Division Kashmir, relieving Altaf Dento, DCF.
· Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, RO-I, currently DSCO Kupwara, will hold the additional charge of Divisional Manager, Extraction Division, Ganderbal.
· Sheikh Mohammad Iqbal, RO-I, Range Officer Mawar Langate, is assigned the additional charge of Rajwar Range.
Range Officers on the Move:
The order also detailed several movements within the Range Officer (RO) cadre:
· Mudasir Ahmad Shah (RO-I) and Sameer Ahmad (RO-I) have been placed as awaiting orders of adjustment in the office of PCCF/HoFF, J&K.
· Arooq Ahmad Shah (RO-I) moves from the Trial Range Awantipora to become Range Officer Shopian, replacing Farooq Ahmad Mir (RO-I).
· Suhail Wani (RO-I) is transferred from ZSCO Pampore to Range Officer SPSSP Tangmarg.
· Haroon Mushtaq (RO-I) moves from Havelli Range to Wildlife Range Poonch.
· Farooq Ahmad Mir (RO-I) takes over as Range Officer Trial Range Awantipora.
· Aurangzeb (RO-I) is posted to Range Officer Havelli Range and will also hold the charge of Mendhar Range.
· Mohammad Shamim (Forester) is posted to the office of the Hon’ble Minister for Forest, Ecology & Environment.
Official Directive
The order states that the transfers and postings are made “in the interest of administration” and are effective with immediate effect. All relieved officers have been directed to report to their new places of posting or to the PCCF/HoFF for further instructions where applicable.
