SRINAGAR, Oct 9 — The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Secretariat has officially released the provisional calendar for the 4th session of the Assembly, scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 23, 2025, according to KNC.
The calendar, issued by Assembly Speaker Advocate Abdul Rahim Rather, outlines a nine-day session, meticulously planned to accommodate government business, private members’ bills, and resolutions, while taking into account public holidays and electoral schedules.
The session will commence on October 23 with obituary references, a customary practice to pay respects to prominent leaders and public figures who have passed away. October 24 and 25 are designated off days due to Rajya Sabha elections and routine scheduling, followed by a Sunday holiday on October 26.
Government business is slated for Monday, October 27, focusing on legislative proposals, departmental reports, and other official matters. Tuesday, October 28, has been reserved for Private Members’ Bills, giving legislators an opportunity to introduce bills concerning local and regional issues that may not be part of the government’s agenda. On Wednesday, October 29, the Assembly will deliberate on Private Members’ Resolutions, enabling members to raise pressing matters affecting citizens, ranging from infrastructure and education to public welfare and healthcare.
The final two days of the session, Thursday, October 30, and Friday, October 31, will return to Government business, ensuring that key legislative proposals and departmental reports are discussed and passed efficiently before the session concludes.
The Secretariat’s detailed planning reflects its commitment to maintaining a structured and productive legislative environment. By balancing government priorities with private members’ concerns, the session aims to address both administrative and public interests effectively.
Political analysts note that the upcoming session will be crucial for discussing developmental policies, budgetary allocations, and welfare schemes, especially in the context of ongoing initiatives in the Jammu and Kashmir region. The structured schedule also allows legislators sufficient time to prepare for debates and discussions, making the session more impactful.
The Assembly’s calendar release has been welcomed by political leaders, civil society members, and the public, who view a well-organized legislative session as essential for transparent governance and accountability.
This announcement by the J&K Legislative Assembly Secretariat, as reported by KNC, marks the beginning of what is expected to be a productive session aimed at legislative efficiency, public welfare, and robust policy discussions.
