DPS Srinagar Hosts Successful Edition of DPSMUN 2025

Srinagar, Oct 19: The Delhi Public School, Srinagar, successfully concluded its annual Delhi Public School Model United Nations (DPSMUN) 2025 on Saturday, marking two days of spirited debates, diplomacy, and deliberation. The event brought together more than 200 student delegates from schools across Jammu and Kashmir, showcasing the school’s commitment to nurturing global awareness and leadership among young minds.

According to a report by Greater Kashmir, the conference witnessed intense discussions, strong arguments, and moments of true diplomacy, as delegates represented countries, political parties, and organizations in a model UN setup.

Promoting Global Dialogue and Leadership

Model United Nations (MUN) is a global educational platform where students simulate the working of the United Nations, taking on the roles of diplomats and policymakers. Through research, negotiation, and debate, students tackle real-world challenges — building confidence, critical thinking, and teamwork skills essential for the leaders of tomorrow.

This year’s DPSMUN 2025 featured six intellectually engaging committees:

  • United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)
  • United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW)
  • International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ)
  • Lok Sabha
  • Jammu & Kashmir Political Parties Meet (JKPPM)
  • AI Advisory Board

Each committee discussed pressing issues — from human rights and gender equality to artificial intelligence governance and local political dialogue — encouraging delegates to think deeply and collaboratively about solutions.

Celebrating Excellence and Diplomacy

The Closing Ceremony of DPSMUN 2025 honoured outstanding performances across committees, with awards presented for Best Delegate, High Commendation, and Special Mention. Members of the Executive Board and Secretariat were also recognised for their leadership and dedication to ensuring the event’s success.

Principal Ms. Shafaq Afshan congratulated the participants and organisers, praising their enthusiasm and professionalism. She stated that “DPSMUN continues to serve as a cornerstone of holistic education at DPS Srinagar, nurturing confidence, empathy, and analytical thinking among students.”

Ms. Arusa Rasool, Academic In-Charge (Senior Wing), commended the Secretariat and Organising Committee for their exceptional teamwork and coordination, describing the event as “a model of academic and logistical excellence.”

Chairman Mr. Vijay Dhar lauded the initiative, noting that “Platforms like DPSMUN empower young minds to engage meaningfully with the world’s most pressing challenges and envision solutions rooted in empathy and understanding.” He added that such efforts reaffirm DPS Srinagar’s mission of fostering purpose-driven intellect and civic responsibility.

A Platform for the Leaders of Tomorrow

With its blend of intellect, collaboration, and youthful enthusiasm, DPSMUN 2025 once again proved to be a beacon of academic excellence in the Valley. The event highlighted DPS Srinagar’s enduring commitment to holistic education, global citizenship, and nurturing future leaders capable of driving meaningful change in society.
