NHM J&K Recruitment 2026: 15 Psychiatrist Posts Announced Under District Mental Health Programme

The National Health Mission (NHM), Jammu & Kashmir has issued an official advertisement inviting applications from eligible candidates for the post of Psychiatrist (Specialist) under the District Mental Health Programme (DMHP). The recruitment will be carried out on a contractual basis across various districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the advertisement issued by the Mission Director, NHM J&K, a total of 15 vacancies have been notified, covering both Kashmir and Jammu divisions.

Division-wise Distribution:
Kashmir Division – 05 Posts
Pulwama, Bandipora, Shopian, Anantnag & Baramulla

Jammu Division – 10 Posts
Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi, Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri & Poonch

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess:
MBBS degree along with MD/DNB in Psychiatry or an equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India.

Age Limit

The maximum age limit for applicants is up to 65 years.

Remuneration

Selected candidates will receive a monthly remuneration of ₹85,000.

Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on a merit-based point system as detailed below:
MBBS – 60 points
PG Diploma – 10 points (across the board)
PG Degree – 20 points (across the board)
Viva-Voce – 20 points

Note: MBBS marks will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.

Terms and Conditions

The engagement will be purely contractual, initially valid up to 31st March of the financial year in which the selection is made. Extension of the contract will depend on satisfactory performance and approval from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.

Preference will be given to candidates from the concerned district. District-wise merit lists will be prepared, and if no suitable candidate is available locally, Divisional Merit will be considered.

Applicants must be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

Last Date to Apply

The last date for submission of application forms is 26 February 2026. Applications received after the due date will not be accepted, either in person or by post.

Documents Required

Candidates must enclose self-attested copies of the following documents with the application form:
Date of Birth Certificate
Domicile Certificate
MBBS consolidated marks sheet (all years)
MBBS and PG Degree/Diploma certificates
Registration certificate issued by NMC / J&K State Medical Council

Applications without the prescribed documents or not fulfilling eligibility conditions will be rejected outright.
