Kashmir Power Update: Scheduled Shutdowns to Impact Multiple Areas: SRINAGAR: The Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns that will affect multiple areas in south Kashmir on May 7 and May 9, 2026, due to maintenance works on key transmission lines.
According to the advisory, power supply to Anantnag, Malaknag, Qaimoh, Qazigund and Ashajipora will remain suspended from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm on May 7 owing to a shutdown of the 132 KV Wanpoh (1st) line.
In a separate shutdown on the same day, supply to the Grid Sub-Station (GSS) Qazigund of Northern Railways will be affected from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm due to maintenance on the 132 KV IRCON line.
On May 9, another shutdown of the 33 KV Wanpoh (2nd) line will disrupt power supply to Anantnag, Malaknag, Qaimoh, Qazigund, Ashajipora, SICOP and Shopian from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Additionally, power supply to Hiller, Kokernag and Dooru will remain affected from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm on the same day due to a shutdown of the 132 KV Lisser line.
The shutdowns are being undertaken to carry out essential maintenance and ensure the reliability of the power distribution network, the department said.(KASHMIR LIFE)
