About Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs)
Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) are district-level agricultural extension centres established under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. These centres play a crucial role in connecting agricultural research institutions with farmers and ensuring that modern agricultural technologies reach the grassroots level.
KVKs are responsible for:
- Transfer of agricultural technologies to farmers.
- Demonstration of improved farming practices.
- Capacity building and skill development.
- Promotion of agri-entrepreneurship.

Special Instructions for Previously Applied Candidates
Candidates who had applied earlier for the post of Subject Matter Specialist (Food Science & Technology/Home Science) under Advertisement Notice No. 05 of 2023 dated 31 March 2023 are not required to submit a fresh application.
However, they may update their credentials through the online portal. The eligibility conditions and age criteria applicable under the previous advertisement shall continue to apply.
Important Service Conditions
The advertised posts are exclusively meant for Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs).
Selected candidates will be governed by:
- ICAR Rules and Regulations
- Guidelines of the KVK Project Scheme
- Service conditions prescribed by the sponsoring agency
The posts are non-transferable to the main establishment of SKUAST-K.
While inter-KVK transfers may be considered in administrative interest, employees shall have no claim for transfer or absorption in the university’s regular establishment.
Selection Process
SKUAST-K will notify the detailed selection procedure separately.
The university has clarified that:
- No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the selection process.
- Candidates found involved in malpractice or misconduct shall face cancellation of candidature.
- Selection shall remain subject to verification of original certificates and documents.
