ACB Catches Tehsil Office Official Red-Handed Accepting Bribe

SRINAGAR: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Kashmir on Saturday conducted a raid at the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Shaltang and arrested a daily-wage employee red-handed while accepting a bribe, sources said.

As per sources, the raid was carried out by the ACB. During the operation, one person was caught while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000.

The accused has been identified as Mohd Layiq Nath, son of Mohd Sadiq Nath, a resident of Barthana Qamarwari. He was working as an NYC operator on a daily-wage basis in the Tehsil Office, Shaltang.

In this connection, FIR No. 01/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar.

They said the raid is still underway and further details are awaited. (KNC)
