Big Administrative Move: 56 Mechanical Wing JEs Made Incharge AEs in J&K: SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday ordered the placement of 56 Junior Engineers (Mechanical) as In-charge Assistant Engineers (Mechanical) in their own pay and grade with immediate effect.

According to Government Order No. 157-PW(R and B) of 2026 issued by the Public Works (R and B) Department, Civil Secretariat, the decision has been taken under the JK Engineering (Gazetted) Service Recruitment Rules, 1978, as amended from time to time.

The order states that the placement includes degree holders as well as diploma holders across various categories, including RBA, ST and ALC, and shall be effective immediately.

Among degree holders, those placed include Abdul Rawoof, Farooz Ahmad Kaloo, Mohd Irfan Kozgar, Firdous Ahmad Dar, Shahid Ahmad Khan, Azhar Ahmad Mirza, Sajad Ahmed Rather, Sunny Thapa, Anil Kumar, Sajad Ahmad Khan, Ravinder Singh Slathia, Hakeim Sajad Hassan, Manik Arora, Danesh Kar, Varun Gupta, Rohit Khajuria, Rahul Slathia, Gagandeep Singh, Rishi Gupta and Abhishek Mahajan. The list also includes Rohit Manhas (RBA), Sandeep Kumar, Maajid Gulzar Wani (RBA), Sunit Singh Jeryal (ST) and Sakshi Sharma (ALC).

In the diploma category, those placed include Anis Ahmad Khan, Rajinder Singh, Amarjit Singh, Shakeel Ahmad Wani, Bilal Ahmad Sofi, Rajesh Gupta, Abhishek Singh Pathania, Abdul Raof Khan, Sanjeev Kumar (Soc), M Naseer Ajaz, Tahir Rashid (RBA), G M Mir (RBA), Pankaj Khajuria (RBA), Fayaz Ahmad Naikoo (RBA), Balwinder Singh (RBA), Sheikh Parveez Ahmad, Tariq Ahmad Mugal, Fayaz Ahmad Bawani, Shabir Ahmad, Mohammad Yaseen Bhat, Arun Sharma, Harjeet Singh, Shivani Pandita, Niyaz Ahmad Pandith, Fasil Nisar Punjabi, Sanjeev Kumar Bargotra, Gh Hassan Bhat, Mubashir Manzoor Bhat, Nissar Ahmad Najar, Vishal Sharma and Kingjee Pandit, among others.

The government has clarified that the arrangement is purely temporary and stop-gap in nature and shall not confer any right upon the appointees for substantive promotion, regularisation or confirmation, which will be governed strictly under the recruitment rules and through the Departmental Promotion Committee or JK Public Service Commission.

It further stated that the arrangement shall remain subject to the outcome of any pending court cases and may be reversed at any time without prior notice in case of adverse reports from any agency or if any eligible left-out engineer is later found entitled under the relevant quota.

The order also directs that the officers shall continue at their present places of posting until further orders. It further sanctions charge allowance in favour of eligible engineers in accordance with the Finance Department circular dated March 27, 2026.(KASHMIR LIFE)
