DSEK Announces New School Timings Across Kashmir Division from November 1

SRINAGAR, Oct 30: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has announced a change in school timings for all government and recognized private schools across the Kashmir Division, effective November 1, 2025.

The new order, issued under No. 309-DSEK of 2025 by the Director General, School Education Kashmir, applies to all educational institutions operating across the division and marks the shift to the winter schedule.

Revised School Timings (Effective November 1, 2025):

  • Schools within Srinagar Municipal limits: 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Schools outside Srinagar Municipal limits and other areas of Kashmir Province: 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM

The Directorate has instructed all schools to strictly adhere to the new timing schedule without any deviation. “All heads of institutions must implement the revised timings and ensure that teaching activities commence accordingly,” the order reads.

Copies of the order have been circulated to senior education officials, including the Secretary, School Education Department, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, all Deputy Commissioners, and Chief Education Officers across districts. The Information Department has also been directed to publicize the change through newspapers, TV, and radio to ensure awareness among students, teachers, and parents.

Reason for the Change

Officials said the decision is part of the annual transition to the winter schedule, aimed at ensuring comfort and safety for students during colder mornings and shorter daylight hours.

“This shift helps protect schoolchildren from freezing temperatures and foggy conditions during early hours,” said a DSEK official. The new schedule will remain in effect until further orders.
