An 85-year-old man from Zadoora area of Pulwama lost his life after being hit by an unidentified tipper in the Newa area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.
According to officials, the victim, identified as Abdul Rahim Khanday, son of Mohammad Ismail Khanday, was crossing the road when the speeding vehicle struck him. He suffered multiple serious injuries in the accident.
Khanday was immediately shifted to the Bone and Joint Hospital, Barzulla, and later referred to SMHS Hospital, Srinagar for specialized treatment. However, doctors at SMHS confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to trace the vehicle and its driver.
