The Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department (PDD) on December 27 issued a significant administrative order approving the placement of 40 In-charge Assistant Engineers (Electrical) as In-charge Assistant Executive Engineers on an officiating basis, marking an important step to strengthen the engineering cadre and improve power sector management in the Union Territory.
According to officials, the promotion list includes a balanced mix of technical qualifications, comprising 25 degree-holder engineers and 15 diploma-holder engineers, reflecting the department’s effort to recognize experience and expertise across categories.
Following these placements, the government has also ordered the immediate transfer and posting of 77 engineers across different power sector wings to ensure optimal utilization of manpower and to address long-pending vacancies. The affected wings include Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Jammu and Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited (JKPTCL), and Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC). Officials said these transfers have been carried out strictly in the interest of administration to streamline operations and enhance efficiency in generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity.
