Kashmir Power Update: KPDCL Announces Planned Outages Across Valley

SRINAGAR: The Chief Engineer, Distribution, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has informed that scheduled shutdowns will be carried out on several 33 kV transmission lines for maintenance works, resulting in temporary power disruptions across multiple areas of Kashmir on different dates.

On April 29, 2026, shutdown of the 33 kV Budgam–Ichgam and Budgam–Kremshore lines will affect power supply to Ichgam, Ichkoot, Choon, Barwah, Kanir, Dadaompora, Hushur, Wagam, Zuhama, Hanjoora, Old Kremshore, Arigam, Nunner, Shamsabad, Brenwar, Sursyar, Dreygam, Arampora, Shinipora, Yarikhah, Khansahib, Raithan and adjoining areas between 11 am and 1 pm.

On the same day, shutdown of the 33 kV Achabal–Cherpora tapline will affect Achabal, Shangus, Nowgam, Cherpora and adjoining areas from 9 am to 3 pm on April 29 and again on May 2, 2026.

Also on April 29, the 33 kV Shamsipora tapline will remain shut from 10 am to 3 pm, affecting Shamsipora, Sudsanoo, Turka, Tachloo and adjoining areas.

Further, shutdown of the 33 kV Alusteng–Nagbal and Alusteng–Zakura lines will affect Shuhama, Bakura, Darend, Nagbal, Fatehpora, Gadoora, Tulbagh, Chunduna, Saloora, Shairpathri, Pandach, Pathan Colony, Gulabagh, Mir Mohalla, Umarhair, Nowbugh, Ahmad Nagar, 90 ft Road, Khalmullah and adjoining areas from 10 am to 3 pm on April 29, and May 2, 2026.

On April 30, 2026, shutdown of the 33 kV Handwara Hot Line will affect Handwara town, Kulangam, Chogal, Pohrupeth, Wadpora, Kultura, Marathgam and adjoining areas from 10 am to 3 pm.

On May 2, 2026, shutdown of the 33 kV Wanpoh–Qazigund line will affect Mir Bazar, Vessu, Industrial Estate, Town area, Waltengoo, YK Pora, Nussu, Chowgam, Manzmoh, Colony, Railway and adjoining areas from 10 am to 1 pm.

On the same day, the 33 kV Mattan–Kawarigam line will remain shut from 9 am to 3 pm, affecting Kheribal, Kawarigam, Ranipora, Dethoo and adjoining areas.

KPDCL has advised consumers in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements in view of the scheduled shutdowns.(SOURCE: KASHMIR LIFE)
