NH-44 Reopens: 900+ Vehicles Cleared on Jammu-Srinagar Highway: SRINAGAR: Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was restored on Thursday after authorities cleared multiple landslides in Ramban district that had disrupted movement for the past two days, officials said.
The 270-km strategic highway, the only all-weather road link connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country, was initially blocked by landslides early Monday. Although it was briefly reopened on Tuesday morning, fresh landslides at two locations forced another closure.
Following extensive clearance operations at Shalgarhi, Banihal, Digdol, Khooni Nallah, Karol Bridge and Chanderkote, traffic police facilitated the movement of over 900 vehicles, officials added.
