NEET (UG), India’s largest medical entrance examination, serves as the gateway for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses across the country. Following the decision to conduct a re-examination, the NTA has significantly strengthened monitoring systems and security protocols to maintain the integrity of the test.

Over 5,400 Examination Centres Prepared

According to the agency, the examination will be conducted at 5,440 centres located across 551 cities in India and 14 overseas cities. Candidates will be able to take the examination in English and 12 Indian languages, ensuring wider accessibility.

The extensive network of centres has been established to accommodate the large number of aspirants while maintaining strict examination standards and operational efficiency.

Record-Level Security Measures Introduced

The NTA has deployed one of the most advanced security systems ever used in a national-level entrance examination.

More than 95,000 examination rooms have been equipped with CCTV surveillance systems. A total of 1,38,560 CCTV cameras will monitor activities throughout the examination period.

The live footage will be monitored simultaneously at multiple levels, including national, state, and ministry control rooms, enabling authorities to identify and respond to any irregularities immediately.

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the agency has incorporated Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based monitoring systems to analyze CCTV footage in real time. The technology will help detect suspicious behaviour, unauthorized movements, and potential malpractice during the examination.

Deployment of Over 51,000 Signal Jammers

To prevent cheating through electronic devices, the NTA has deployed 51,311 signal jammers across examination centres nationwide.

The jammers, supplied by the Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), are designed to block unauthorized communication signals within examination premises.

Officials said the deployment aims to eliminate the possibility of electronic malpractice and ensure a secure testing environment.

Massive Human Resource Mobilisation

Apart from technological safeguards, the NTA has also deployed a large workforce to manage examination operations smoothly.

Every examination room will be supervised by two invigilators, while each centre will have a dedicated team of officials responsible for security, verification, logistics, and candidate assistance.

The agency has deployed:

  • 38,795 frisking personnel
  • 48,448 biometric verification staff
  • Face authentication systems for identity verification
  • Approximately 6,700 observers
  • More than 100 virtual observers
  • Around 40 to 50 security personnel at each examination centre

Officials noted that the number of biometric verification staff has been doubled compared to previous years to strengthen candidate authentication and prevent impersonation.

Multi-Agency Coordination for Secure Transportation

The transportation of confidential examination materials has been carried out under strict security arrangements involving multiple national agencies.

The Police, Paramilitary Forces, Indian Air Force, and Department of Posts have been engaged to ensure safe handling and movement of question papers and other sensitive materials.

Before dispatch to examination centres, confidential packets were secured and verified through designated custodian banks under strict protocols.

Authorities stated that these measures have been implemented to prevent unauthorized access and maintain confidentiality until the examination begins.

Nationwide Mock Drill Conducted

As part of final preparations, the NTA conducted a nationwide mock drill on June 20 to test all critical systems and operational procedures.

The exercise covered:

  • Examination logistics
  • CCTV monitoring systems
  • Biometric verification mechanisms
  • Communication channels
  • Emergency response procedures
  • Security coordination
  • Question paper handling protocols

Officials said the drill helped assess preparedness levels and identify any operational gaps before the actual examination.

Student-Friendly Facilities at Examination Centres

In addition to security arrangements, the NTA has introduced several facilities aimed at improving the examination experience for candidates and their families.

The facilities include:

  • Availability of drinking water
  • ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) support
  • Ambulance services for emergencies
  • Shade and seating arrangements for parents and guardians
  • Wall clocks in every examination room
  • Additional rough sheets for candidates
  • Special arrangements for left-handed candidates
  • Extended time allowances to compensate for entry and verification procedures

Officials stated that these measures are intended to reduce stress and ensure that students can focus entirely on their examination.

NTA Warns Against Misinformation

Ahead of the re-examination, the agency has urged candidates and parents to remain cautious about misinformation circulating on social media platforms.

The NTA advised aspirants to rely only on official notifications and communications issued by the agency.

Authorities warned that fake messages, fabricated paper leak claims, and misleading social media posts are often circulated to create confusion and panic among students.

Candidates have been advised not to share unverified information and to report suspicious content through appropriate channels.

Message to Candidates

With the examination just hours away, the NTA extended its best wishes to all candidates appearing for NEET (UG) 2026 Re-Exam.

Officials encouraged students to remain calm, confident, and focused while approaching the examination. They emphasized that comprehensive arrangements have been made to ensure a fair, transparent, and secure testing environment for every candidate.

As India prepares for one of the largest and most closely monitored examinations in the world, authorities remain hopeful that the enhanced security measures and transparent processes will provide equal opportunity to all aspiring medical students.
