Omar Abdullah Marries Journalist Nidhi Razdan; Couple Shares Wedding Pictures
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has married senior journalist and television anchor Nidhi Razdan, with the couple announcing their marriage through social media posts on Saturday.
Abdullah, 56, shared four photographs with Razdan on X (formerly Twitter), captioning the post, “A new journey began yesterday,” while tagging her in the announcement.
Razdan, 49, also shared the photographs and responded with the message, “It’s done bro.” Both included a ring emoji in their posts.
According to reports, the marriage was solemnised on Friday, October 30, 2026, in New Delhi under the Special Marriage Act, with family members from both sides present as witnesses.
Wedding-related celebrations were also held in Srinagar, bringing together close relatives and family members.
Among those present were National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, his wife Mollie Abdullah, other family members, and Razdan’s parents, veteran journalist MK Razdan and Sarla Razdan.
Omar Abdullah’s Previous Marriage
The marriage comes around three months after the Supreme Court formally dissolved Omar Abdullah’s marriage to his first wife, Payal Abdullah.
The two married on September 1, 1994, and have two sons, Zahir and Zamir. They had been living separately for several years, and their matrimonial dispute remained before the courts for a prolonged period.
On July 31, 2026, the Supreme Court brought the dispute to a close after both parties reached a settlement and jointly sought dissolution of their marriage.
A bench comprising Justices PS Narasimha and Alok Aradhe exercised its powers under Article 142 of the Constitution to dissolve the marriage by mutual consent.
Who Is Nidhi Razdan?
Nidhi Razdan is an established Indian journalist and television anchor who worked with NDTV for more than two decades.
She became widely recognised for hosting the channel’s political discussion programme Left, Right & Centre, through which she covered national politics, elections, international affairs and major developments.
She left NDTV in 2023 and is also the author of Left, Right & Centre: The Idea of India, a book examining India’s political landscape and democratic institutions.
Omar Abdullah’s Political Career
Omar Abdullah is a prominent political figure in Jammu and Kashmir and heads the National Conference-led government in the Union Territory.
He previously served as Chief Minister from 2009 to 2014 and returned to the post following the National Conference’s victory in the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
The couple’s announcement has attracted widespread attention, with congratulatory messages pouring in from political leaders, journalists and people across the country.
