15 Driving Licences Suspended in Anantnag During Road Safety Drive

SRINAGAR, Oct 25: The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Anantnag, Mubashir Jan, has suspended 15 driving licences for repeated violations under Section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, as part of an ongoing road safety enforcement drive in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

According to officials, the ARTO team conducted comprehensive vehicle inspections at multiple locations across the district on Friday. During the drive, 159 vehicles were checked, and several were found operating with worn-out tyres, faulty brakes, and cases of overloading, posing serious safety risks.

Taking strict action, 15 drivers were penalized with licence suspensions for serious and repeated offences. Officials said that all drivers were also counseled on vehicle maintenance and road safety compliance. Vehicle owners were advised to follow the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) and ensure timely replacement of tyres and brakes to avoid future penalties.

ARTO Mubashir Jan emphasized that such road safety drives will continue in the coming days to ensure strict enforcement of traffic norms and reduction of accidents in the region.
