Ravi Kumar, son of Kali Dass and a resident of Tangar area of Ramban, was swept away by the fast-flowing river on September 1 while reportedly taking a bath along the riverbank at Maitra, officials said.

Following the incident, teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police and local administration launched a joint search and rescue operation. Residents and members of Kumar’s family also joined the efforts to locate him.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban Varujeet Singh said the operation was continuing on a sustained basis despite challenging conditions caused by the strong current in the river.

Search teams have been covering the stretch around the reported incident site and adjoining portions of the Chenab, but the missing student had not been traced so far.
