SRINAGAR: At least 42 Indian Umrah pilgrims are believed to have lost their lives after a bus transporting devotees from Mecca to Madinah crashed into a diesel tanker in the early hours of Monday. The collision took place at approximately 1.30 am IST in an area identified as Mufrihat, according to a report by the Hindustan Times.

Preliminary inputs indicate that the passengers, many of them women and children from Hyderabad, were returning to Madinah after completing their pilgrimage in Mecca. Sources said roughly 20 women and 11 children were on board.
