SHOPIAN: In a tragic incident, a five-year-old girl lost her life after she accidentally fell into a water channel in Narwar village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.
Officials identified the deceased as Nazima, daughter of Rayaz Ahmad Khatana, a native of Kalakot, who was currently residing in Narwar, Shopian.
According to preliminary reports, the minor girl slipped into a nearby nallah while playing close to her home.
Soon after the incident, locals and family members launched a rescue operation and managed to pull her out of the water channel. She was immediately shifted to the District Hospital Shopian, where doctors declared her brought dead.
A police officer confirmed the incident, stating that all necessary legal formalities have been completed.
