SRINAGAR, Oct 11 — The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir on Friday issued an important public notice, urging all commercial and transport vehicle owners to carry out mandatory fitness inspections at least two months before the expiry of their existing Fitness Certificates.
According to the advisory, timely renewal of Fitness Certificates is essential to prevent penalties, legal complications, and operational delays. Vehicle owners are advised to carefully check the validity of their certificates and ensure that their vehicles are presented at the designated Board of Inspection if the Fitness Certificate is approaching its expiry date.
Officials from RTO Kashmir warned that vehicles submitted for inspection after the expiry of their Fitness Certificates will be subject to penal action, including payment of the prescribed late fee. Such delays can lead not only to fines but also to disruptions in commercial operations, particularly for transport and logistics businesses relying on timely road permits.
The RTO highlighted that this measure is not only a regulatory requirement but also a crucial step toward maintaining road safety and environmental standards. Regular fitness checks ensure that vehicles are mechanically sound, reducing the risk of accidents caused by faulty brakes, tires, or engines. Additionally, well-maintained vehicles contribute to lower emissions, supporting environmental protection efforts in the region.
RTO Kashmir emphasized that vehicle owners must prioritize timely inspections and renewals, particularly those operating commercial and public transport fleets. This initiative reflects the office’s ongoing commitment to safe and compliant road transport in the Kashmir valley, ensuring that both drivers and passengers benefit from a secure and reliable transport system.
By staying proactive and adhering to the guidelines set by RTO Kashmir, vehicle owners can avoid unnecessary penalties and contribute to safer roads across the region. The advisory serves as a timely reminder for all stakeholders in the transport sector to plan inspections well in advance and ensure compliance with legal and safety norms.QUTING THIS NEWS KASHMIR LIFE
