Srinagar, Oct 12: The Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) has released an important notification regarding the engagement of doctors as Stipendiary Senior Residents in the Department of Cardiology, following the recommendations of the Selection Committee held on September 27, 2025. This initiative is aimed at strengthening the healthcare services at SKIMS and providing young medical professionals with structured training and experience in the field of cardiology.
Doctors whose names appear in ANNEXURE-A have been officially sanctioned for tenure engagement of one year as Stipendiary Senior Residents. The tenure will provide doctors with hands-on clinical exposure, training under senior faculty, and the opportunity to serve patients in one of the region’s leading healthcare institutes.
Tenure and Engagement Rules
The engagement is strictly for one year, and it does not guarantee continuation or extension beyond this period. On completion of the tenure, the doctor will be automatically relieved from the post. This ensures a clear and structured workflow within the department, allowing SKIMS to rotate and engage new talent periodically.
Stipend and Allowances
Each engaged doctor will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 67,700/-, along with all usual allowances admissible under SKIMS and government rules as per Government Order No. 56-SKIMS of 2018, dated June 26, 2018. Doctors not allotted campus accommodation are eligible to receive House Rent Allowance (HRA) upon submission of a certificate from the Estates Officer, SKIMS.
Full-Time Engagement and Duties
All Stipendiary Senior Residents are required to work full-time at SKIMS and are strictly prohibited from undertaking any private practice or additional employment during their tenure. Doctors are expected to perform clinical duties, participate in rounds, assist in procedures, and follow the work schedule assigned by the administration.
Work Schedule and Monitoring
The administration retains the right to modify working hours, shifts, and duty timings as per patient care requirements or administrative needs. This flexibility ensures that the hospital functions efficiently while maintaining high standards of care. Doctors are expected to follow the prescribed duty timings and remain available for emergency services whenever required.
Security Deposit and Early Termination
To ensure commitment, the first month’s salary of the engaged doctors will be held as a security deposit. This amount will be released only after successful completion of the one-year tenure. Any doctor leaving the engagement prematurely or without providing proper notice will forfeit the security deposit, which will be credited to the institute’s fund (CD-183). Additionally, doctors wishing to resign before the completion of tenure are required to provide two months’ advance notice. Failure to do so will also result in the forfeiture of the first month’s salary.
Leave Policy
Engagees will be entitled to leave as per Government Order No. 451-JK (HME) of 2024, dated July 8, 2024. It is important to note that no winter or summer vacations will be provided during the tenure, given the critical nature of patient care and continuous services in the Cardiology Department.
Discipline and Dress Code
All doctors engaged under this program are expected to maintain proper discipline and adhere to the dress code mandated by SKIMS. Professional behavior, punctuality, and respect for patients and colleagues are key expectations.
