The injured officer has been identified as Sub-Inspector Javaid Hussain, who was immediately rushed by colleagues and nearby commuters to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for treatment. Hospital sources said his condition is currently stable and that he is being monitored by doctors.

Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. “Efforts are underway to identify the rider involved in the hit-and-run case,” an official said, adding that CCTV footage from nearby cameras is being examined to trace the vehicle.

The accident caused a brief disruption in traffic movement around the Bakshi Stadium–MA Road stretch, one of the city’s busiest corridors. Authorities later restored normal flow after the injured officer was moved to safety.

Meanwhile, the incident has once again raised concerns over rash driving and poor adherence to traffic safety rules in Srinagar, particularly in high-traffic zones. Officials have urged motorists to maintain speed limits and follow safety guidelines to prevent such avoidable mishaps.KNT
