The order clearly states that no government or private recognised school shall conduct any form of internal examination during the specified period.

“It is impressed upon all Government/Private Recognised Schools not to conduct any in-house examinations/internal assessments/term examinations for all classes with effect from June 23 to June 27, 2026,” the order reads.

The directive applies to all recognised educational institutions functioning under the jurisdiction of the Directorate of School Education Kashmir.

Decision Taken in View of Muharram Observance

Muharram-ul-Haram holds immense religious importance for the Muslim community and is observed with devotion and respect across Kashmir. During this period, several religious programmes, processions, and gatherings are organised in different districts.

The Directorate stated that the move is aimed at ensuring convenience for students, parents, and school staff during the observance period and to avoid any academic activities that may clash with Muharram-related events.

Strict Compliance Ordered

The School Education Department has instructed all Chief Education Officers, Zonal Education Officers, school heads, and managements of private institutions to ensure strict implementation of the order.

Authorities have been asked to communicate the instructions to all stakeholders and ensure that examination schedules are adjusted accordingly.

Warning Against Violations

The Directorate has warned that any violation of the instructions will be viewed seriously.

The order specifically states that any deviation from or non-compliance with the directive shall invite disciplinary action under the relevant rules and regulations.

School authorities have therefore been advised to strictly adhere to the instructions and refrain from scheduling any tests, assessments, or examinations during the specified dates.

Relief for Students

The announcement is expected to bring relief to thousands of students across Kashmir who would otherwise have been required to appear in internal assessments and examinations during the Muharram observance period.

Schools are likely to revise their academic calendars and examination schedules to accommodate the directive issued by the Directorate.
