J&K Govt Appoints 20 Officers as District Mentors for Nasha Mukti Abhiyan : SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has nominated 20 senior officers as District Mentors to oversee and strengthen the implementation of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan across all districts of the Union Territory

According to Government Order No. 763-JK(GAD) of 2026 dated 09.04.2026, issued by the General Administration Department, the officers will supervise the anti-drug campaign in addition to their own departmental responsibilities until further orders.

The appointed mentors include senior IAS, IPS, IFS, and JKAS officers, each assigned to a specific district. Among them, Shaleen Kabra has been assigned Pammu, Ashwani Kumar Samba, Dr. Ashish Chandra Verma Budgam, Shailendra Kumar Srinagar, and Anil Kumar Singh Kathua. Other assignments include Brij Mohan Sharma for Ganderbal, Saurabh Bhagat for Anantnag, Vikramjit Singh for Pulwama, Sheetal Nanda for Reasi, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary for Rajouri, Sarmad Hafeez for Baramulla, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan for Udhampur, Ram Niwas Sharma for Kupwara, Piyush Singla for Shopian, Vikas Kundal for Kulgam, Rahul Yadav for Kishtwar, Doifode Sagar Dattatray for Doda, Harvinder Singh for Poonch, Zubair Ahmad for Bandipora, and Babila Rakwal for Ramban.

As per the order, the District Mentors will monitor all key aspects of the anti-drug campaign, including awareness and IEC activities in educational institutions and public spaces, coordination with stakeholders for sustained outreach, de-addiction services, enforcement actions by police and excise departments, and identification, counselling, rehabilitation, and reintegration of substance users.

They will also oversee training programmes for teachers, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, volunteers, and peer educators to build a grassroots network of “Nasha Mukt Volunteers” at the village and ward level.

The mandate further includes promoting community participation through Panchayati Raj Institutions, youth clubs, NSS, NCC units, and religious and community leaders, as well as ensuring effective data reporting on awareness drives, treatment, and rehabilitation outcomes.

The mentors will also supervise anti-drug pledge campaigns, awareness weeks in high-risk areas, and conduct monthly impact assessments of the programme to evaluate outcomes and recommend corrective measures.
