J&K Government Promotes 28 JKAS Officers, Grants Senior-Grade Benefits to More

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced a major round of promotions in the senior ranks of the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS).

Through a series of orders issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), 28 JKAS officers have been promoted to higher grades.

Of these, 9 officers have been elevated to the Special Scale (Level-13), while 18 officers have been promoted to the Selection Grade (Level-12).

The government has also promoted Jitender Mishra to the Selection Grade on a prospective basis and separately approved the release of Selection Grade (non-functional) benefits in his favour retrospectively from January 1, 2020.

Several promoted officers will take charge as Special Secretaries and Additional Secretaries in their respective departments, while others will continue in their existing postings until further orders.

The promotions follow decisions taken by the Council of Ministers on August 4, 2026.

The orders remain subject to the outcome of any pending cases before the competent courts.
