SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered a major reshuffle in the Police Department, transferring and posting 100 IPS and JKPS officers across the Union Territory with immediate effect.

The transfers were ordered through Government Order No. 499-Home of 2026, dated October 9, 2026, issued by the Home Department in the interest of administration.

The reshuffle covers senior police leadership, district police units, traffic police, railway police, CID, security, armed police battalions, training institutions and other specialised wings.

Senior-level changes include the appointment of Danesh Rana as Managing Director of the J&K Police Housing Corporation, Garib Dass as ADGP Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF, and Dr Mohd Haseeb Mughal as Director of the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur.
