SRINAGAR :The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday extended the summer vacation for all government and recognised private schools in the Kashmir Division and the winter zones of Jammu Division till July 26 in view of prevailing weather conditions.

Minister for Education Sakina Itoo announced that the decision was taken keeping the safety and well-being of students, teachers and their families as the top priority.
With the extension, schools in the affected regions will now reopen on Monday, July 27, 2026.
In her announcement, the minister urged people to remain cautious and follow all advisories issued by the concerned authorities in view of the ongoing weather situation.
“I request everyone to stay safe, remain vigilant, and follow the advisories issued by the concerned authorities. Wishing everyone good health and safety,” she said.
The extension comes amid continued heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions across parts of Jammu and Kashmir, which have triggered flash floods, landslides and disruption of normal life in several districts.
