JAMMU/SRINAGAR, 12 Oct 2025:J&K Traffic Advisory 13 Oct 2025: The Traffic Police Headquarters, Jammu & Kashmir, has issued a detailed traffic advisory for commuters traveling on NH-44, Mughal Road, and other key routes on 13th October 2025. Motorists are urged to exercise caution and plan their journey according to the advisory, as road conditions remain challenging in several stretches.

NH-44 Jammu-Srinagar Highway
The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has not been fully restored at Tharad, Udhampur, leading to slow movement along the route. Traffic congestion is primarily due to single-lane movement at Tharad, Balinalla, and Dewal, as well as breakdowns of four heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) and the movement of 17 nomadic herds on the highway.

Traffic Advisory for Jammu & Kashmir: NH-44 Still Partially Blocked; Mughal Road and Other Routes Open Under Conditions

Goods carriers, especially HMVs and LMVs transporting fresh perishables or livestock, are advised to adhere strictly to loading limits and follow the guidelines issued by the Traffic Police Headquarters. Commuters are requested to maintain lane discipline, avoid overtaking in restricted areas, and limit travel on NH-44 unless necessary.

Limited Vehicle Movement on NH-44

  • LMVs from Jammu to Srinagar will be permitted from Nagrota between 0700 hrs to 1100 hrs.
  • LMVs from Srinagar to Jammu will not be allowed.
  • LMVs heading to Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban from Jammu can travel from Nagrota between 0700 hrs to 1100 hrs, while vehicles from these districts towards Jammu must cross the Nashri Tunnel before 1000 hrs.
  • HMVs will be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar based on road conditions, coordinated by TCU Udhampur and TCU Ramban.

Mughal Road and Alternative Routes
The Mughal Road is open for LMVs in both directions, while HMVs transporting six-tyre fruit loads will be allowed only from Shopian to Poonch. No HMVs will be allowed from Jammu via the Mughal Road. Cut-off timings for LMVs and private vehicles traveling towards Jammu are strictly enforced, with key checkpoints including TRC Srinagar (1330 hrs), Nowgam Peaks (1400 hrs), Pantha Chowk (1400 hrs), and Herpora (1600 hrs).

Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag (NH-244)
Traffic on NH-244 will be permitted subject to fair weather and road conditions. LMVs are allowed in both directions after approval from NHIDCL, with specific timings from PP Parana (0800-1500 hrs) and PP Daksum (0900-1500 hrs).

SSG Road (Srinagar-Sonamarg-Kargil)
Regulated traffic will be allowed on SSG Road with LMVs followed by HMVs. Timings:

  • Minamarg to Srinagar: 0500-1000 hrs
  • Sonamarg to Kargil: 1130-1730 hrs
    Security force convoys are advised to move in coordination with civil traffic to prevent congestion.
