JKAS officer promotion: Senior JKAS Officer Elevated to Selection Grade and Special Scale in J&K: SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the promotion of a senior Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officer to the Selection Grade and Special Scale, according to an official order issued by the General Administration Department.
As per Government Order No. 927–JK(GAD) of 2026, sanction has been accorded to the promotion of Sher Singh to the Selection Grade of JKAS with effect from October 27, 2016. He has further been granted the Special Scale notionally with effect from August 5, 2022, with prospective regularisation.
The order states that the promotion will remain subject to the outcome of any writ petitions pending before competent courts of law.
The decision is based on the Council of Ministers’ approval dated April 30, 2026.
The government has clarified that the promotion will be governed by judicial outcomes, if any, arising in related cases.(KASHMIR LIFE)
