JKPSC Rejects Representations Against Lecturer English Selection List in School Education Department

Srinagar, June 8, 2026: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has rejected the representations submitted against the provisional selection list for the post of Lecturer English in the School Education Department.

According to an official notice issued by the Commission, the objections were examined in detail and were found to be devoid of merit. Consequently, the representations have been disposed of and rejected.

Background of Recruitment

The recruitment process pertains to 49 posts of Lecturer English in the School Education Department. These vacancies included posts advertised under various categories through Notification No. 07-PSC (DR-P) of 2024 dated September 9, 2024.

The written examination for the posts was conducted on January 11, 2025, and the result was declared through Notification No. PSC/Exam/S/2025/65 dated January 11, 2025, whereby 153 candidates were provisionally shortlisted for the interview/viva-voce stage.

Subsequently, the Commission issued the provisional select list vide Notification No. 35-PSC (DR-C) of 2026 dated May 18, 2026, inviting objections, if any, from the concerned candidates.

Representations Received

Following the publication of the provisional selection list, JKPSC received representations from the following candidates:

  1. Ms. Anjuman Mehmood
  2. Firdous Kouser
  3. Mr. Mudasir Ahmad Wani

The Commission stated that the representations submitted by Firdous Kouser and Mudasir Ahmad Wani involved separate issues, while the representation filed by Ms. Anjuman Mehmood primarily challenged the selection process and award of interview marks.

Objections Raised

The representation alleged that:

  • The final award roll revealed systematic discrepancies.
  • Principles of fairness and equal opportunity under Article 14 of the Constitution had been violated.
  • Candidates with comparatively lower academic profiles secured significantly higher rankings.
  • The interview marks awarded appeared disproportionate.
  • Certain vacant posts remained unfilled due to candidates not joining after selection.
  • A request was made for the Commission to exercise discretionary powers to review the award criteria and grant relief.

The candidate further argued that adjustment against a vacant seat would not adversely affect any selected candidate and would not result in financial implications for the government.

JKPSC’s Response

After examining the matter, the Commission observed that the applicant had appeared before the interview board and was awarded 5.65 points out of 6 based on her performance before the board.

JKPSC clarified that there is no provision for reviewing interview marks once the interview process has been concluded. The Commission maintained that the selection process had been conducted according to established rules and procedures.

The objections raised regarding comparative merit, award of interview marks, and vacant seats were not found sufficient to warrant any modification of the select list.

Representations Rejected

The Commission concluded that the representations lacked merit and therefore could not be accepted. Accordingly, all objections received against the provisional selection list have been rejected.

The order was issued by the Under Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission, on June 8, 2026.
