- Charge Essential Devices: Ensure mobile phones, power banks, laptops, and emergency lights are fully charged beforehand.
- Stock Water: If you rely on electric water pumps, store adequate water for drinking and domestic use.
- Plan Meals: Prepare meals that do not require electricity to heat or cook, or use alternative cooking methods.
- Inform Family Members: Make sure all family members, especially the elderly, are aware of the timings to avoid any inconvenience.
- Unplug Appliances: To protect your sensitive electronics (like TVs, refrigerators, and ACs) from potential voltage surges when power returns, unplug them during the outage.
Why is This Maintenance Necessary?
KPDCL has stated that these scheduled shutdowns are imperative to facilitate “maintenance and repair works” on the 33 KV lines and the Cheshmashahi grid station. Such proactive maintenance is crucial for:
· Preventing Major Breakdowns: Identifying and fixing faults before they lead to prolonged, unscheduled outages.
· Improving Grid Reliability: Strengthening the infrastructure to provide a more stable power supply, especially during the harsh winter months.
· Ensuring Public Safety: Addressing potential hazards in the electrical network to ensure the safety of both the public and the utility staff.
