Over 1,500 Engineering Posts Vacant in J&K R&B Department, Reveals Government Data.
SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 27: The Jammu and Kashmir government has disclosed that 1,586 engineering posts are currently vacant in the Public Works (R&B) Department, highlighting a significant manpower gap that could impact key infrastructure projects across the Union Territory.
In a written reply to a question raised by MLA Mir Mohammad Fayaz, the department informed that the vacancies include 344 gazetted and 1,242 non-gazetted engineering positions that remain unfilled across various divisions.

Officials said that the shortage of qualified engineers is affecting multiple ongoing development initiatives, particularly those related to road macadamisation, PMGSY projects, and urban infrastructure schemes.
The government is reportedly assessing measures to expedite recruitment and strengthen engineering manpower in order to ensure timely execution of critical public works.
