Policeman Dies After Accidental Firing From Service Rifle in Bandipora, J&K

A 32-year-old Policeman Dies constable from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district tragically died on Friday after his service rifle accidentally went off inside the Police Lines Bandipora, officials confirmed.

The deceased has been identified as Constable Arfeen Lone, son of Darwesh Lone, a resident of Malangam Tulail in the Bandipora district.

According to officials, the incident occurred when the constable’s service rifle accidentally discharged, inflicting serious injuries. “He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead on arrival,” an official said.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accidental firing.

This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the local police community, highlighting once again the occupational risks faced by personnel serving in high-pressure environments.
