SRINAGAR: The Directorate of Social Welfare Kashmir has ordered a fresh round of transfers and postings of officials, including the placement of several Social Workers and other employees as In-Charge Tehsil Social Welfare Officers (I/C TSWOs) across different districts of Kashmir.

The transfers and postings were ordered by Director Social Welfare Kashmir M. Akbar Wani, IAS, through Order No. 134 DSWK of 2026 dated October 7, 2026.
According to the order, the arrangement has been made in the interest of administration and for the smooth functioning of the Social Welfare Department.

Several of these postings have been made against available vacancies, while some officials have been posted in place of existing Tehsil Social Welfare Officers.
Existing Tehsil Social Welfare Officers Also Transferred
The order also provides for the transfer and posting of existing Tehsil Social Welfare Officers.
Fayaz Ahmad Lone, TSWO Sumbal, has been transferred and posted at the Tehsil Social Welfare Office Bandipora against an available vacancy.
Muzaffar Gull, TSWO Ganderbal, has been transferred and posted at the Tehsil Social Welfare Office Pulwama in place of Tariq Ahmad Magray.
Officials Attached With Directorate of Social Welfare Kashmir
The Directorate has further ordered that the following officials will remain attached with the Directorate of Social Welfare Kashmir until further orders:

- Nargis Farheena Bashir, Superintendent LVC
- Waseem Ahmad, TSWO Sopore
Meanwhile, Roshan Lal, Superintendent, District Social Welfare Office Shopian, who is presently attached with the Directorate, has been posted as I/C TSWO Uri. However, the order states that he will continue to remain attached with the Directorate until further orders.
Social Welfare Kashmir Transfers Are Temporary
The Directorate has clarified that the entire arrangement is purely temporary and on a stop-gap basis.
Importantly, officials who have been placed as In-Charge Tehsil Social Welfare Officers will not acquire any preferential or legal right to regular promotion against the posts of Tehsil Social Welfare Officer.
