Srinagar: The Sopore Police District has ordered a significant reshuffle of police personnel, transferring and posting seven officers across different police stations and police posts with immediate effect.
The reshuffle, ordered by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Sopore, is aimed at strengthening the administrative setup and ensuring the effective functioning of police stations, police posts and other units across the police district.
According to the official order, several Inspectors have been assigned new responsibilities, including postings as Station House Officers (SHOs) at key police stations, while two Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) have also been transferred between police posts.
New Postings of Police Inspectors
As part of the reshuffle, Inspector Ayaz Rasool Geelani has been transferred from the District Police Lines (DPL) Sopore and posted as SHO of Police Station Dangiwacha.
Inspector Iftkhar Hussain, who was serving at Police Station Tarzoo, has been transferred and posted as SHO of Police Station Sopore.
Meanwhile, Inspector Syed Owais Geelani has been moved from DPL Sopore and posted as SHO of Police Station Panzalla.
The order also transfers Inspector Syed Junaid Showkat, who had been serving as SHO Police Station Dangiwacha. He has now been posted to DPL Sopore as RI/C ERSS/PCR Sopore.
Inspector Mohammad Shafi, who was serving at Police Station Panzalla, has been transferred and posted as SHO of Police Station Tarzoo.
The changes effectively bring new leadership to several police stations within the Sopore Police District.
Changes at Police Posts
The reshuffle also covers two police posts.
PSI Khalid Mehmood, who was serving as In-Charge (IC) Police Post Frutimandi, has been transferred and posted as IC Police Post Watergam.
In a corresponding move, PSI Mohammad Owaise has been transferred from Police Post Watergam and posted as IC Police Post Frutimandi.
The transfers are part of the broader administrative exercise intended to ensure smooth functioning and efficient deployment of police personnel.
Officers Directed to Join Immediately
The order directs all transferred and posted officers to be relieved forthwith and report at their new places of posting without any joining time.
The authorities have also issued specific directions regarding the handing and taking over of charge. Officers have been instructed to ensure the proper transfer of official records, case files, government property, arms and ammunition and other relevant items before assuming their new responsibilities.
Such arrangements are intended to ensure that the transfer of responsibilities does not disrupt the functioning of police stations and other units.
DySP Akash Kapoor Relieved of Independent Charge
Separately, DySP (Probationer) Akash Kapoor has been relieved of the independent charge of Police Station Sopore.
Kapoor had been holding the independent charge while undergoing practical training. According to the order, he has now completed two months of practical training and has consequently been relieved of the responsibility of independently overseeing the police station.
He has been directed to report to DPL Sopore to undergo the remaining components of his prescribed practical training programme.
Focus on Administrative Efficiency
The latest reshuffle comes as part of the police administration’s efforts to maintain effective supervision and operational efficiency across the Police District Sopore.
With new officers taking charge of several police stations and police posts, the changes are expected to bring fresh administrative leadership to the concerned units while ensuring continuity in policing and public service delivery.
The movement of officers between police stations, police posts and the District Police Lines is a routine administrative mechanism through which the police department adjusts its manpower and responsibilities according to operational and administrative requirements.
The order specifically states that the reshuffle has been made in the interest of administration and for the effective functioning of police stations, police posts and other units in Police District Sopore.
The newly posted officers are required to assume their respective responsibilities immediately, with the formal transfer of charge and official property to be completed as directed by the department.
