Southwest Monsoon Arrives in Jammu Finally, the southwest monsoon has reached Jammu and the surrounding territories, meteorologists reported on Thursday.

A meteorological department official stated here that “there was light to moderate rain/thundershower at many places of Jammu Division (Udhampur 30.5 mm, Kathua 35 mm, Katra 28.1 mm)” and that “SW monsoon has finally onset over Jammu and adjoining areas as per rainfall pattern and easterly wind flow.” Over the following two to three days, the weather is predicted to grow more favorable for the Southwest Monsoon to continue advancing into the remaining areas of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad.

With regard to the prediction through June 30, he stated that numerous locations in the Jammu Division may see light to moderate rain or thundershowers in the late evening and early morning, while a small number of locations in the Kashmir Division may get light rain.

He warned that from July 1 to 5, there would be a steady increase in rainfall intensity starting on July 2 with the probability of sporadic light to moderate rainfall in numerous locations. He stated that it is not impossible for there to be brief, intense showers in a few locations.GNS
