The order, issued late on Friday, states that the arrangement will remain valid for six months or until regular appointments are made, whichever comes earlier.

The additional charge has been entrusted to Ghulam Qadir and Rafi Ahmad Dar, both serving as Assistant Commissioners (Food Safety).

The department said the stopgap arrangement was made on the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee and the Public Service Commission to maintain administrative continuity. It also clarified that the arrangement does not grant the officers any preferential claim to regular promotion
