The UGC-NET exam was canceled on Wednesday, according to the National Testing Agency, since there were initial signs that the exam’s integrity had been compromised.

The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has decided to cancel the UGC-NET June 2024 Examination in order to maintain the highest standards of transparency and the integrity of the examination process, the ministry stated in a statement.

“There will be a new investigation, for which distinct information will be provided. The Central Bureau of Investigation (C.B.I.) will concurrently receive the case for a comprehensive investigation,” the ministry continued.

According to UGC Chairperson M Jagadesh Kumar, 317 cities across the nation had the attendance of almost 81% of the 11.21 lakh registered applicants for the NET exam.

The purpose of the UGC-NET exam is to assess an Indian national’s eligibility for the positions of “Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor” and “Assistant Professor” at Indian colleges and universities.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the UGC-NET using computer-based testing (CBT).

Twice a year, in June and December, the exam is held. In order to establish a regular cycle for the UGC-NET examination, the NTA, in collaboration with the UGC, is holding the UGC NET in June 2023 in 83 topics, in certain cities throughout the nation.

Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) awards and/or assistant professorship eligibility are contingent on the candidate’s overall performance in UGC-NET Papers I and II.

This news is related to the ongoing controversy surrounding the NEET test, which is being accused of having anomalies.

The education ministry released the following statement regarding the NEET exam: “The issue with grace marks has already been properly handled in the matter pertaining to the NEET(UG) Examination-2024. A thorough report has been requested from the Bihar Police’s Economic Offenses Unit regarding certain violations that were allegedly observed during the test in Patna. After receiving this report, the government will take additional measures.

The government is dedicated to safeguarding students’ interests and upholding the integrity of exams. The ministry further stated, “It is emphasized that any individual or organization found to be involved in this matter will face the strictest action.”
