SRINAGAR: A fresh tragedy has been reported from Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir following the declaration of the Class 10 examination results by JKBOSE, where a 16-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide after failing in one subject.

Officials said the deceased, identified as the daughter of Mohammad Rafiq, was an inhabitant of Shahpur Kotranka area of Rajouri. Preliminary information revealed that the teenager took the extreme step after learning that she had not cleared one paper in her Class 10 examination.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, with locals expressing shock and grief over the untimely death of the young girl. Family members said Saima was under visible stress following the announcement of the results, though no one anticipated such a tragic outcome.
This incident comes close on the heels of a similar case reported from Doda where a boy died of suicide after failing in one subject.
Educationists and mental health experts have repeatedly stressed that academic setbacks are temporary and should never be seen as an end to future prospects, calling for greater awareness, counselling facilities, and parental engagement to prevent such tragedies. [KNT]
