Western Disturbance to Bring Snowfall in Kashmir, Strong Winter Spell Likely After Jan 22

Weather Update

A weak Western Disturbance is expected to approach Jammu and Kashmir from tomorrow late afternoon onwards, with its influence extending to few parts of the Kashmir plains.

From late afternoon, snowfall may occur over higher reaches of Kashmir and Ladakh, including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Doodhpathri, Sonamarg, Zojila Pass, Razdan Pass, along with other higher altitude regions and mountain passes.

In the plains, weather conditions may turn cloudy, with light rain or very light snowfall possible by late evening. No significant weather activity is anticipated from this system.

Weather Outlook Ahead

19–21 January: A moderate Western Disturbance is likely to bring snowfall over higher elevations, with a chance of light snow in a some plains.

22–26 January: The season’s first strong Western Disturbance is expected to impact Jammu and Kashmir, signaling the most notable winter spell so far. More updates regarding this will be provided in the coming days.
